Time for an update. First off I would like to apoligize to all my peeps out there who have diligently awaited updates on my site. I have been busy over the last few months with finding, getting, and working my current job. I could include a cliche about "not enough hours in the day" but I believe you all have come to expect a higher level from my corny cliches :)
I'm gonna break the last couple months down into catagories to ease your reading (cause I am an organization whore):
Work
As of my last update to this page I have had two main jobs. Once I returned to the DC Metro area I reliezed with great certainty that I was poor. Well, not poor, but definally in need to further monetary aquasitions. As I scoured the DC area for permanent work I did some temp work with an agency. They were extremely helpful and perky. They were able to get me a couple weeks work at a Advertising Agency doing odd jobs. I reported to work for them when I found out odd jobs meant redoing their entire finance history from the ground up. I was actually quite impressed with myself. After a couple days, I had finished the Quickbooks entry stuff, built them a new Dell server and company network, and fixed every single computer problem their employee's had been having. They ended up wanting to hire me to maintain their new setup but by then Lockheed Martin had contacted me.
Lockheed Martin hired me and I started the security clearance process. A process that is going to take about 3-6 months. *Le sigh* Right now I am working in Kingstowne Alexandria and a really nice building. There are a host of great resturants, stores, malls, driving ranges, "to-do" places that I am generally enjoying working here. Unfortunatly, without a security clearance, there isn't much work that they can give to me. Fortunatly, since I am not doing much, and they know this they have encouraged me to take any/all classes that they offer on stuff ranging from Crystal Reports to Oracle to Business theory. Also, they are paying for any certifications I take so I figure I'm gonna try and get my OCA and CCNA exams completed. I love me some free knowledge.
Personal
I am currently living with my parents. At first this was due to the whole being poor thing, but now its due to the rent is reeeeeally expensive thing. I'm going to be moving out in late January/early Febuary once I get a nice nest egg under me. *image of me sitting on a big egg* I'm looking in the Reston area since it is close to friends, close to Tyson's, closer to work, and a generally nice area. If anyone knows any good places in that area or in general, give me a heads up and I will hug you.
I have spent a lot of time since aquiring work taking a deep look into finances and how to maintain them. My time in Harrisonburg was fun but I spent a lot of money that I could have saved. I don't intend to make that mistake again. (Stupid adulthood) I've made spreadsheets and such and mapped out my 401k, benefits, bedgets, and savings donations. All my math major friends would be proud. :) I think I have a pretty good foundation and I look forward to getting out on my own.
Meghan is in Syracuse :( which as you all may know if very far away. So far, I have been able to fly up a couple times and see her and she has come to visit me as well. It sucks, her being that far away but she will be back after she graduates in August. Wh00t! If any of you know Meghan you might know she is not a fan of the cold. Think warm thoughts for her this winter as she is not in the best place for easy winters. To help keeo her entertained I have allowed her to use my World of Warcraft account. She is now at the time of this writing a Level 17 Paladin on Stonemaul. Having a WoW playing girlfriend is really hot :-P
Well, thats about it for now. I am currently writing a php page so I can updates quickly and more frequently. Feel free to email me with any happenings.
Peace
